Taking an honest look into Julie's Neverland, I realize there's another area of content I want to share. It all started when I wasn't doing NVLD posts for a while. I've come to the realization that I would like to include more posts aimed at people who have just been diagnosed. The problems I encounter with doing these type of posts are I don't want to go too clinical and I've forgotten what my personal experience was at the beginning.
I don't want to go too clinical because I want the blog to focus on storytelling to inspire others along their journey. However, I think talking more about what Nonverbal Learning Disorder is would raise more awareness and make it sound not so big and overwhelming. I'm not a professional in this field, but I would love to support others on their journey in a more personal way by hearing other stories and providing resources to help along the way. This isn't something we should go through alone, we need to find our tribe of people and support each other.
​The second problem is I have trouble remembering my experience with being diagnosed. Because change is one of my biggest fears, I thought I blocked it out because It was a big change and by not wanting to deal with it, it would go away on its own. Don't get me wrong I still struggle and will encounter different struggles along my journey, but I have this feeling that I've overcome more hurdles than I think. This feeling of accomplishment gives me the desire to want to become a voice in the community to let others know they're going to be okay. That's why I started Julie's Neverland.
